[EN] This panel will explore the past, present and future of distributed events, taking input from artists, scientists and activists. We will explore ways of making use of the internet to connect communities, to create international events that are inclusive, diverse and promote cultural exchange. This discussion will be against the backdrop of ecological breakdown, while looking to take on the challenge of making new spaces for cultural exchange. It will close with an international performance from members of the live coding community in Argentina, Brasil, Indonesia and more.

[ES] Este panel explorará el pasado, el presente y el futuro de los eventos distribuidos, teniendo en cuenta las aportaciones de artistas, científicos y activistas. Exploraremos formas de hacer uso de Internet para conectar a las comunidades, crear eventos internacionales que sean inclusivos, diversos y promuevan el intercambio cultural. Esta discusión tendrá como telón de fondo el colapso ecológico, mientras busca asumir el desafío de crear nuevos espacios para el intercambio cultural. Se cerrará con una actuación internacional de miembros de la comunidad de codificación en vivo en Argentina, Brasil, Indonesia y más.

[PT] Este painel explorará o passado, presente e futuro dos eventos distribuídos, recebendo contribuições de artistas, cientistas e ativistas. Exploraremos maneiras de fazer uso da Internet para conectar comunidades, criar eventos internacionais que sejam inclusivos, diversos e promovam o intercâmbio cultural. Essa discussão terá como pano de fundo o colapso ecológico, ao mesmo tempo em que se aceita o desafio de criar novos espaços para o intercâmbio cultural. Ele será encerrado com uma apresentação internacional de membros da comunidade de codificação ao vivo na Argentina, Brasil, Indonésia e muito mais.


In the days following the event, an online forum will open to explore themes and outcomes from the panel, in terms of designing future online events. A focus will be on alternative approaches to online events, particularly those exploring the algorithmic and digital arts and related research topics. All are welcome to join this discussion, which will include invited responses from the following:


This event is part of a series, and will be followed by EulerRoom equinox, an online multi-day stream running from the 19th until the 22nd March 2020.
