Giovanni Fanfani is a classical philologist and postdoctoral researcher in the ERC project PENELOPE: A Study of Weaving as Technical Mode of Existence, hosted at the Research Institute for the History of Science and Technology, Deutsches Museum, Munich. His previous project, carried out at the University of Copenhagen, has explored the role and function of textile imagery in ancient Greek poetry and poetics, especially in the genre of choral lyric and its performative and compositional modes. His current work broadens the spectrum to encompass aspects related more specifically to ancient weaving technology and its influence on early Greek philosophical texts.
