Darren Chouings and TC McCormack

Darren Chouings is a contemporary artist and curator living and working in Sheffield UK. His practise mainly includes Video Installation, Animation and Sonic art. Darren is also the founder of Sheffield's leading contemporary arts programme PRISM. He has a wealth of knowledge in the events sector and has managed events for Sheffield Doc/Fest, The Children’s Media Conference, Lovebytes, Tramlines and Sensoria (to name a few). Across his career to date, Darren has been commissioned to produce video work and animated content on behalf of other contemporary artists. In recent years he has worked with Anna Barham, Dr Sharon Kivland, Julie Westerman and TC McCormack.

TC McCormack is based in London. His practice incorporates subjects as diverse as the contradictions of modernism’s heritage; in design and architecture, the phenomenon of resistance space, aesthetics of cultural memory and the possibility of language to delineate the relational affinities of forms, while acknowledging the shifting nature of subjectivity and the problems of interpretation. His work takes a range of outcomes, often incorporating video, photography, collage and text; this multidisciplinary approach enables him to inhabit a number of artistic strategies. Curatorial practice as a genre, is an ongoing enquiry within his research. He recently curatored The Absolute Outside, a group exhibition at Spor Klübü, Berlin. He is an associate of Radical Praxes, a curatorial association; has the aim to generate dialogue and experimentation. RP had its first Iteration, a group exhibition: A Political Idiom, at nationalmuseum, in Berlin, 2016. He is currently developing a new project; The Era of Dissolution with the artist Michelle Atherton, which recently saw their exhibition A Ragged Gesture, open at Kunstraum, Linz. He has had work screened at: the ICA - London, Hamburger Bahnhof - Berlin, Goethe Institute - New York, Platform – Istanbul, FACT - Liverpool, Centre of Contemporary Arts - Glasgow, Kunstnernes Hus – Olso, Museum of Contemporary Art – Sydney, Purescreen and BIM - Biennal Of Moving Images, Centre pour L’image Contemporaine, Geneva.
